What Is a Cable Median Barrier?
Cable median barriers also referred to as guard cables are the barriers that are made of three or four steel cables mounted on posts. When a vehicle hits the barrier, the cables absorb the maximum kinetic energy resulting from the crash even if the post breaks. This will redirect your vehicle preventing a cross-median crash.
If a section of the cable barrier breaks due to the crash, the maintenance team can fix the damaged section quickly. These barriers rest on steel posts that slide into buried sleeves. When a barrier is damaged, the posts slide out and allow a new cable section to be installed easily.
Besides reducing the severity of a crash, these cable barriers cost much less than the permanent concrete barriers. Cable medians barriers are mostly installed on the entrance and exit ramps of the highways and other crash-prone areas.
Due to the increased traffic volumes and cross-median crashes in the White City, OR region, Gage It Construction has been manufacturing and installing large quantities of cable median barriers to prevent these crashes.
